Melvin Nicholson is a professional landscape photographer and the founder of Landscape Locations Photo Tours, renowned for his ability to translate drama, mood, and atmosphere into compelling visual stories. His work is defined by bold colour, meticulous detail, and a deep appreciation for the landscapes he photographs.
Based in the UK, Melvin has travelled extensively, developing deep knowledge of photographic locations across Japan, Europe, Vietnam, and Namibia. His portfolio includes the acclaimed image “Fogbow,” which earned him significant recognition for capturing a rare and ethereal natural phenomenon with striking clarity and artistry. Whether working under dramatic storm light or the hushed tones of dawn, he brings a patient, considered approach that reveals nature at its most atmospheric.
Alongside his photography, Melvin is a passionate educator and tour leader, guiding photographers of all levels through workshops and international photo tours. Chris discovered his passion for photography later in life, sparked during a honeymoon trip to Japan and cemented in 2012 when he first picked up a landscape camera. Drawn to the genre’s blend of beauty, drama, and creative challenge, he quickly developed a deep appreciation for the natural world and the stories it reveals through light and weather.
Living just moments from Dorset’s iconic Jurassic Coast, Chris initially focused on capturing its wild, untamed seascapes, scenes shaped by dynamic tides, shifting skies, and rugged geology. In more recent years, this love for stormy coastlines has been balanced by an equal fascination with Dorset’s quieter side: its hidden woodlands, delicate seasonal displays, and atmospheric treescapes.
Specialising in evocative images of the South West, Chris brings a unique blend of patience, technical understanding, and artistic intuition to his work. His distinctive style has earned national recognition, including winning UK Landscape Photographer of the Year in 2020 and placing runner-up in the Wildflowers category of the International Garden Photographer of the Year. Today, he shares his knowledge and passion through guiding, helping photographers of all levels capture the landscapes they’ve always dreamed of.

Alistair’s passion for photography and the outdoors has been a lifelong thread, beginning with his early career at Kodak after studying Geography at Southampton University. After many years capturing personal and family memories, he returned to more dedicated photography once he had more time to focus on his craft. His commitment and growing expertise were recognised in September 2022 when he achieved his Licentiate distinction with the Royal Photographic Society (LRPS), followed by serving as President of the Harrogate Photographic Society for the 2023/24 season.
His work has been showcased by organisations such as the Yorkshire Photographic Union and featured in publications including Outdoor Magazine and the Royal Photographic Society’s journal. These highlights reflect his ability to blend technical skill with an eye for atmosphere, storytelling, and the subtle character of the landscapes he explores.
Based in North Yorkshire, Alistair is surrounded by some of the UK’s finest scenery, and he makes the most of every season and weather condition to capture the region at its best. He takes great pleasure in sharing this passion with others, and for him, there is no greater reward than helping fellow photographers experience the joy of being outdoors and discovering the creative possibilities it offers.
Sam was born and raised on the island of Malta, where his love for seascapes and the outdoors began. Surrounded by the natural beauty of the island, he developed a special bond with the sea, making seascapes his natural comfort zone and the starting point for his photography journey. Being immersed in nature from an early age helped shape his eye for composition, light, and atmosphere.
With no mountains in Malta, Sam’s curiosity and passion for landscapes led him to travel further afield. In 2016, he realized a lifelong dream by visiting Iceland, where the ethereal vistas and dramatic scenery deepened his love for landscape photography. These travels have given him the chance to explore a wide variety of locations, continually honing his skills and learning new techniques along the way.
Sam is also drawn to the night sky and astrophotography, often experimenting while camping under the stars. He enjoys taking the time to appreciate the world around him and finds great satisfaction in helping others do the same, guiding photographers to see and capture the beauty of nature through their own cameras.
