Dolomites Photography Workshop - Alpine Majesty Awaits

Discover one of Europe's most inspiring mountain landscapes, where dramatic peaks soar nearly 11,000 feet above pristine alpine meadows and mirror-like lakes. The Italian Dolomites offer an extraordinary canvas of jagged limestone spires, traditional wooden huts, and stunning autumn colours that create the perfect setting for transformative landscape photography.

Iconic Alpine Photography Destinations

Experience the breathtaking grandeur of Tre Cime di Lavaredo, where three spectacular monoliths - Cima Piccola (Little Peak), Cima Grande (Big Peak), and Cima Ovest (Western Peak) - rise to nearly 3,000 metres. Navigate the vast landscape surrounding these legendary peaks and witness unforgettable sunsets from the 2,405-metre viewpoint at Rifugio Locatelli, creating memories that will last a lifetime.

Explore the famous Alpe di Siusi, Europe's highest alpine meadow, where the dramatic Sassolungo mountain range provides a stunning backdrop. This peaceful sanctuary, free from vehicles between 10am-5pm, offers hours of serene photography opportunities as you capture the interplay of light and shadow across vast meadows leading to golden hour magic.

Cultural Heritage and Sacred Architecture

Document the exquisite beauty of South Tyrol's most photogenic churches, including Santa Magdalena, St. Johann Church, and Chiesa di Santa Barbara. Each sanctuary is positioned with perfect compositional harmony against the dramatic mountain backdrops, showcasing the Italian mastery of placing beautiful architecture in jaw-dropping locations.

Autumn's Golden Transformation

Witness the spectacular seasonal transformation as autumn paints the Dolomites in vibrant golds, oranges, and crimsons. The changing colours add an extra dimension of beauty to an already stunning landscape, creating opportunities for images that capture both the grandeur of the peaks and the intimate details of seasonal change.

Premium Accommodations and Strategic Location

Experience comfort and convenience at two carefully selected hotels in Ortisei and Dobbiaco, chosen for their exceptional quality, superior service, and strategic positioning. These locations minimize travel time while maximizing photography opportunities, ensuring you spend more time behind the camera capturing the region's magnificent beauty.

Six Days of Alpine Photography

This comprehensive workshop provides abundant opportunities to create your own compelling images with expert guidance and personalized tuition available throughout your journey. Whether you're drawn to sweeping panoramic vistas, intimate alpine details, or the perfect interplay of architecture and landscape, the Dolomites offer endless inspiration.

Join us for an extraordinary week of landscape photography in one of the world's most beautiful mountain regions, where every sunrise and sunset reveals new possibilities for capturing stunning photographs.

We will collect all the workshop participants at 11am from Marco Polo Airport on Saturday 17th October 2026

Here is a detailed itinerary outlining our schedule. While the itinerary looks fixed, it is really only an indication of the locations we will be visiting and the decision to alter our plans depending on the weather and light will be taken if needed.

Day 1 - Saturday 17th October 2026
Marco Polo Airport Venice - Ortisei
We will collect the workshop participants at Marco Polo Airport in Venice on Saturday at 10am, before heading to Ortisei in two comfortable nine-seater minibuses. After checking into our first of two hotels (Hotel Luna Mondschein, Ortisei), we will head out for a sunset shoot at St Johann Church before returning to the hotel and retiring for the evening over fabulous food at the hotel.

Day 2 - Sunday 18th October 2026
Seceda, Val di Funes, St Johann Church, Santa Maddalena Church
Today's locations include a mid-morning visit to the 8,000ft high Seceda mountain range via the gondola before moving onto the Val di Funes region where the quaint small mountainside church of St Johann Church awaits us once again followed by a sunset session at the iconic Santa Maddalena Church.

Day 3 - Monday 19th October 2026
Alpe di Siusi
Day three starts with a hearty breakfast in the hotel before heading into Europe's largest high-alpine meadow, Alpe di Siusi, where we will spend the entire day wandering around at our leisure photographing the glorious sights of the rolling hills, quaint wooden huts, and the dramatic backdrop the Sassolungo mountain. We will stay and capture the sunset before our taxi returns us to the hotel to finish the day off with another fine dining evening at the hotel.

Day 4 - Tuesday 20th October 2026
Passo Giau, Malga Ra Stua Waterfalls
We will be up early to drive the 90 minute journey to the high mountain pass of Passo Giau where a glorious sunrise beckons (hopefully). A couple of hours enjoying the mountainous scenery as the sun rises and illuminates the peaks of Ra Gusela and the Tofane. Then onto Cortina d’Ampezzo for breakfast. The afternoon will be spent at the waterfalls of Malga Ra Stua.

Day 5 - Wednesday 21st October 2026
Lago di Braies, Rifugio Locatelli Hut Tre Cime di Lavaredo
The day starts with a visit to the utterly gorgeous views of Lago di Braies, the iconic lake complete with the wooden steps down into the water and the wooden rowing boats too. Late morning we will head for lunch before spending the full afternoon taking in the outstanding and breath-taking views of the Tre Cime di Lavaredo as we embark on the six mile long track that loops around the base of the 10,000ft Lavaredo to the Rifugio Locatelli hut where sunset will be enjoyed and shot before walking back to the minibus and returning to our accommodation, stopping en-route in Misurina to eat.

Day 6 - Thursday 22nd October 2026
Lago Misurina, Lago Antorno
Sunrise shoot at Lago Misurina to capture the reflections of the Tre Cime peaks in the still water. Back to our accommodation for a well deserved breakfast followed by visit a couple of iconic local lakes and to finish sunset at Lago Antorno before returning to our hotel followed by a meal in one of the excellent local restaurants.

Day 7 - Friday 23rd October 2026
Marco Polo Airport, Venice
Early check out at the hotel this morning to arrive at Marco Polo Airport for 9.30am followed by the flight home to reflect on what will be a trip of a lifetime. If you have always promised yourself a photography holiday of a lifetime, this one will take some beating. I hope you can join us.
